A Quick Guide to Dispersal Zones

  • A Dispersal Zone can be as small as a call boxor as large as a town
  • “Dispersal Zones” are set-up at sites of persistent anti-social behaviour
  • “Anti-social behaviour is any activity that impacts on other people in a negative way.&rdquo Home Office 2003
  • A Dispersal Zone restricts access and use of a public area by groups, 24/7 for up to 6 months
  • A “group” is defined as two or more people
  • Within a designated Dispersal Zone, police can ask groups to disperse
  • Group members must leave the area and not return to any part of it for 24hrs max
  • Ignoring a direction results in 3 months imprisonment and / or a fine (max) £2500
